"My mom's a hardcore fundamentalist, and when she and my dad got divorced she dragged us around in a trailer while she tried to convert people. My stepdad was a 'hunker down for the apocalypse' kind of guy, so he got us into guns. When he got too mentally abusive, I moved in with my dad. He was head of a Christian record label, but now he is selling condom machines. I had a crazy childhood, but it made me hungry to succeed. After moving to New York after high school, I supported myself by playing drums and buckets in the subway. An agent saw me and soon I was acting. I was in A Home at the End of the World with Collin Farrell, I'm with Sigourney Weaver in Imaginary Heroes, and I've got a scene with Bill Murray in the new Jim Jarmusch film. But I haven't given up drums. Once I was playing drums when a woman came up to me and said 'I lost my husband in the World Trade Center. You were his favorite performer. I want to thank you for making him happy.' I can't tell you how that makes me feel."
